How Different Generations Embrace QR Codes

QR codes have become an essential part of everyday life, embraced by people of all ages. Yet, their popularity and usage vary depending on factors like age, tech savviness, and specific situations. Let’s explore how different age groups use QR codes, based on insights from a FoodBytes report by Datassential.

According to Datassential, younger consumers are more familiar with QR technology. Among age groups, Gen Z stands out as the most receptive, with 68% using QR codes to access restaurant menus, compared to 49% overall. Millennials also show strong support, with 78% favoring QR codes for menu access.

On the other hand, Boomers are getting into QR codes, but not as much. Only 22% of Boomers used them during the study. Datassential suggests having paper menus too, to help older customers. Still, 56% of Boomers who’ve used QR codes say they like using their phone to look at menus.
